Illamasqua Christmasqua Snow Queen, and a dark green dramatic look

I realised quite late today that I hadn't done todays Christmasqua challenge.  This look I literally pulled together in 10 minutes.  Needless to say, this is another one I'm not happy with.  Which is such a shame, because Snow Queen could have been really interesting to do.

I also did this green look on my friend.  Another one I'm not 100% sold on.  Think I'm having a bad couple of days.

Illamasqua Christmasqua - (Not so) Brazen Beauty

Illamasqua's competition yesterday was 'Brazen Beauty'.  However, I was going shopping, and then for a couple of drinks with some friends, so I didn't really want anything too OTT.  I went with a typical 1950's beauty look, and then upped the amp with it with a larger flick, some falsies, and some glitter.  Using MAC's Transparent Teal Reflects Glitter on my lips was a mistake.  It looks really pretty, but the glitter just went everywhere!  I didn't actually enter this one, as it wasn't as bold as it could have been, but here's the look anyway.

Illamasqua Christmasqua - Sinful Smile

Today's Illamasqua theme was all about the lips.  I'm quite glad, as I've got a streaming cold, and don't think I could manage a full face of quality makeup!  This is my first time doing two-tone lips.  I don't think it turned out too bad.  The hardest part was getting the edges tidy, and I reached for my trusty skin base lift concealer for that.

Sleek Celestial palette swatches

I was hoping to be able to do a full review of this, but I've been stuck in bed ill all day today, so this will just be some swatches and my initial thoughts!

This winter themed palette is full of cool toned blues, greens and purples. I love the colour selection! It's a healthy mix of mattes, frosts, and sparkly shades.  The swatches below are just one swipe with my finger over no base.

I was a little disappointed with these initial swatches to be honest.  The sparkly shades are pretty chalky.  Usually I'd put that down to the matte base, but I know that Sleek can do mattes well.  I'm hoping that once I put them over an eyeshadow base I'll be able to build up the colour.  The frosts swatch well though.  The shade on the end is very similar to MAC's Club eyeshadow; a green/brown duo-chrome, that my camera just hasn't picked up on.  The most disappointing shade is the light green matte, which is really chalky and quite sheer.  

I love Sleek palettes, but at the moment this one just hasn't impressed me.  I'm holding out final reservation until I try and the shadows over a decent base though.  I really hope my first impression of this is wrong, because it could be such a beautiful winter palette!

Illamasqua Christmasqua - Day 2 Envious Eyeliner

This was one of those looks that started out as a great idea.  And then looked pretty good.  And then I added more to it, and kinda ruined it.  I highlighted some of the black lines using silver, but my camera didn't pick it up like I hoped it would, and it just looks kind of patchy.  Oh well.  It's not completely awful.

Illamasqua are holding a 12 Days of Christmas competition.  For 12 days there is a theme which you can submit a look for.  I really enjoy competitions like this as having a theme is always great for giving me ideas.  Today is 'Lustful Lashes'.  I just had to use my Illamasqua no.23 false lashes!
